Thanks to laser cutting technology, we can benefit from it for fast cutting materials. However, it can’t cut everything. Some of the cutting materials may cause dust or material damage. The following materials are unsafe for laser cutting.

Coated carbon fiber

The coating of carbon fiber releases toxic gas when laser cutting. The gas is harmful to the human body and easy to causes pulmonary disease.

ABS

ABS releases cyanide when laser cutting. Also, Instead of vaporizing, laser cutting can only be melted when laser cutting. Precision is hard to be controlled because of the sticky deposits.

PVC

PVC releases hydrochloric acid and chlorine gas when heat treatment. Such substances corrode and damage the cutting machines.

HDPE, PolyStyrene, and PolyPropylene

These three materials cause laser fires when melting.
